Myopia Management and Orthokeratology
Myopia
What is it and why does it need to be managed?
-
AKA nearsightedness is becoming more and more common in kids. Childhood myopia can cause vision problems and severe eye diseases as we get older.
-
Myopia is when the eye becomes anatomically longer and more nearsighted (higher minus prescription). The longer the eye becomes the more the retina (inside tissue of the eye) stretches and the thinner it becomes.
-
The higher the level of myopia the greater chance of retina detachment, glaucoma and macular degeneration.
