Laser Vision Correction, commonly referred to as LASIK has been around for quite some time. LASIK was first done in early 1990s. Since then it has become a popular option for people who are looking for the freedom of glasses and contacts.
Are you a Candidate? Not everyone is a candidate for laser vision correction. Before you get surgery it is important to make sure you have good ocular health and you are a good candidate for surgery. Laser vision correction involves changing the shape and curvature of your cornea (the front of the eye). When we determine if you are a candidate, it is important to make sure your eye is healthy and your cornea has enough thickness to allow the surgeon to do the surgery. We also like to make sure your prescription is stable for at least one year before you get vision correction.
Side Effects of Vision Correction:
Most people are very happy after they get vision correction. The most common side effect is dry eye which usually will resolve with time and treatment with eye drops. Another side effect is halos and glare at night. Customized wavefront vision correction has made this side effect much less of an issue after surgery.
Cost:
Cost for vision correction can vary. We work closely with surgeons who use the most advances procedures in vision correction. The cost for customized wavefront correction is roughly $1500 to $2500 per eye.
Will I need glasses after? I always tell people that vision correction will eliminate your dependence on glasses. But, you might have a small prescription after and glasses for driving at night or for reading or fine details may be needed.
